Die Auswahl an freien Geodaten ist in der Schweiz ja bekanntermassen recht gering. Der grösste Geodatenanbieter swisstopo bietet nur ein ganz kleines Sortiment an kostenlosen Geodaten an. Darunter finden sich einige wenige Übersichtskarten, ein Shaded Relief, Testdaten der DHM, ein 500m Landsat-Mosaik und die Gemeindeschwerpunkte. Fazit: ziemlich mager!
Besonders ist mir aufgefallen, dass nur die Gemeindeschwerpunkte und nicht etwa die Gemeindegrenzen angeboten werden. Wäre es wirklich zuviel verlangt, zusätzlich dazu eine stark generalisierte Variante der Gemeindegrenzen (und damit auch der Bezirks und Kantonsgrenzen) anzubieten?
Ist man trotzdem an Gemeindegrenzen interessiert, bleibt einem nicht viel anderes übrig, als diese bei swisstopo für 110.- zu erwerben oder sich mit Thiessen-Polygonen basierend auf den Gemeindeschwerpunkten zu behelfen, was dann in etwa so aussieht:
